This 2000 Honda Accord Wagon SiR combines the practicality of a wagon with one of Honda's more interesting performance-oriented drivetrains from the era. Built specifically for the Japanese market, the CH9 Accord Wagon SiR is powered by Honda's 2.3L H23A DOHC VTEC inline-four, producing approximately 197 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Showing 214,000 kilometers, this Accord Wagon offers a combination that was never available to U.S. Honda buyers. While the Accord name is familiar stateside, the Japanese-market SiR was a very different offering, combining five-door practicality with a high-revving naturally aspirated VTEC engine and a number of features unique to the Japanese-market car.

One of the more interesting features of the CH9 is Honda's EPS (Electric Power Steering) with Variable Gear Ratio (VGR). Rather than a conventional hydraulic power steering system, Honda's EPS uses an electric motor to provide steering assistance based on vehicle speed and driving conditions. The system also provides Normal, Plus, and Minus settings that allow the driver to adjust steering effort, making it a surprisingly advanced setup for a wagon from this era.

Under the hood, the 2.3L H23A DOHC VTEC produces approximately 197 horsepower at 6,800 RPM and 163 lb-ft of torque at 5,300 RPM. Combined with the SiR's front-wheel-drive chassis, it gives the Accord Wagon considerably more performance character than its practical five-door body might suggest.

With its distinctive Japanese-market styling, DOHC VTEC powerplant, EPS/VGR steering system, and everyday usability, the CH9 SiR represents a lesser-known side of Honda's performance lineup from the late 1990s and early 2000s. For someone looking beyond the Civics, Integras, and Preludes typically associated with this era of Honda, the Accord Wagon SiR offers something considerably less common in the United States.

This example has already been imported from Japan and is here at AZV1 in Arizona.
